How to Make the Most Out of an “Instant Interview” Hiring Event!
August 24, 2015 7:49:00 PM

If you have followed MAU’s social media, blogs, or newsletter for any amount of time, you have probably seen the announcement for an “Instant Interview” hiring event. At these events, we offer immediate interviews for you to speak directly to a recruiter and discover if you are a good fit for current openings. We may have you wondering, can I really get hired on the spot at one of these events?? And the answer is, for many of our positions, yes, and for others it is a crucial step in the hiring process that can lead to a final job offer!

Interested in attending and seeing where you can start a new career?  Here are a few tips to make the most of an “Instant Interview” event.

1. Dress for Success! As cliche as it may sound, taking some time to dress well for an interview, even an initial interview, not only means a lot to the employer, but it can increase your confidence during the interview. And it goes farther than that, a 2012 study actually showed that essentially, “when we dress smart, we think we are smart.”

2. Bring a Resume. For a recruiter, the resume paints a picture of where you have been and even, where you want to go in a quick, but professional way. While we often ask you to create an account with us prior to attending a hiring event, the resume adds that extra touch. Not sure where to start in creating a resume?  Click here to visit Indeed, where you can create an account and create a resume using their easy template.

3. Just keep smiling. Sometimes, you may attend on a day when there is a bit of a line waiting for interviews. Maintain that positive attitude and when it’s your turn, greet the recruiter with a smile and handshake. You may even bring a book or headphones to help the time pass quickly. After all, there is power in positive thinking

Whether you’re actively looking for a new job or currently working and looking to make a change, consider these 3 tips and come see us at our next event. We’d love the opportunity to get to know you! As Michelle always said, “you got it, dude!”
