Laptop Donation

MAU Workforce Solutions has partnered with SC Works Greater Upstate to provide laptops to job seekers who are in need of one for career development.

MAU Workforce Solutions is proud to announce that it has begun a partnership with SC Works Greater Upstate to give refurbished laptops to job seekers in need.

SC Works’s mission is to help job seekers in the Upstate attain meaningful employment. They offer services like job listings, tuition help, screening applicants, assessments, on-the-job training, and more. SC Works also works with public schools. They work with high school seniors and identify seniors who may need support as they determine their futures.

In many cases, people coming to SC Works find that they need laptops for their careers. SC Works Regional Business Solutions Director Johnnie-Lynn Crosby said, “Since COVID, a lot of job training has gone to virtual learning, and a lot of people we see need laptops.”

Additionally, many students that come through SC Works also are in need of laptops in order to continue their education. To help this need, MAU’s IT department has begun shipping laptops that are no longer being used by MAU to SC Works so that people who need one can have one. The IT department refurbishes the laptops, making sure that they are running well and have all the appropriate software, before sending them to SC Works.

Rhonda Rogers, Operations Manager for Greenville Recruiting at MAU, had this to say about the partnership. “MAU strives to make lives better. Our partnership with SC Works enables us to do so by providing tools for residents in our community to achieve their educational and occupational goals.”

MAU has already provided two laptops to SC Works. SC Works determines who receives a laptop based on need. Both were given to students who had earned their GEDs and are looking to continue donating at least one laptop a month. MAU is glad to partner with SC Works in helping people reach their career goals and looks forward to a continued partnership to help make the lives of job seekers better and facilitate their career development.
