According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of US job openings hit a record high of 6.2 million at the end of July. With that number of openings, two things are certain: employers across the US are hiring, but it also signifies signifies that employers may be having difficulty finding the right people to fill their jobs. This persistent problem in America’s economy is known as the skills gap, which is defined as the mismatch between the employer’s need for skilled talent, and the skills possessed by the existing workforce.
