How Volvo Hired the Right Talent for its First US Facility [Case Study]
February 18, 2019 1:00:00 PM

If you see a 2019 Volvo S60 on the road, you should know two things about the vehicle:

  • It is a finalist for 2019 North American Car of the Year,
  • And it’s the first Volvo model ever built in the United States.

Volvo began construction of its first US manufacturing facility in Ridgeville, SC in 2016, the goal of which was to increase the automotive giant’s market position and presence in the United States.

The announcement brought nothing but excitement for those who live in the Lowcountry, as the facility is expected to inject billions of dollars into the local economy and create over 8,000 jobs as a result of the expansion.

This was a major milestone in the history of the company. However, as they were relying on a global team to lead the project, when it came to building the facility’s workforce, lack of familiarity with the local and regional labor market proved challenging.

Click below to read the story of how MAU partnered with Volvo to help successfully establish its first manufacturing footprint on American soil, hiring more than 200 salaried professional associates during the ramp-up.
