The Competition for Global Talent
April 20, 2016 7:28:04 PM

In February, Indeed released a report called New Insights on the Global Economy. The study found that as migration rates are reaching pre-recession levels, more and more job seekers are looking for a career change abroad. In fact, the study found that 8.1% of job seekers looking for jobs abroad had not yet moved, reflecting a huge pool of talent interested in new opportunities in new places.

What does this mean for the employer? As we continue to see the exit of the Baby Boomer generation from the workforce, workers from abroad could become increasingly crucial additions to the talent pool locally. In addition, for those companies with international operations and the need to recruit throughout the globe, the talent pool exists not only in the country where the candidate is being placed, but throughout other countries as well. In fact, data from Indeed shows that the number one source of outside candidates in the United Kingdom is the United States! Your top candidates for your international recruiting efforts may actually be in your neighborhood.

In today’s world, the fight for talent is global and employers have the opportunity to gain the competitive edge by taking advantage of this changing dynamic.
